Brauer Hall dedicated Oct. 1

Stephen F. & Camilla T. Brauer Hall, the second building in a new engineering complex on the Danforth Campus, was dedicated in a ceremony held Friday, Oct. 1. Brauer Hall, LEED Gold certified, includes state-of-the-art laboratories, a distance-learning classroom and instrumentation and imaging facilities. FULL STORY

Exercise may reduce Alzheimer’s effects

Walking, jogging and other forms of regular aerobic exercise may actually ward off the onset of Alzheimer’s disease pathology in the brain, suggests newly published research from a team led by Denise Head, PhD, assistant professor of psychology in Arts & Sciences, and doctoral student Kelvin Y. Symphony Orchestra in concert Oct. 8

The Washington University Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dan Presgrave, will feature works by two composers affiliated with the Department of Music in Arts & Sciences as part of a program of 19th-, 20th- and 21st-century American music. Transracial adoption film at law school

The School of Law is hosting a screening and discussion of the award-winning documentary “Off and Running” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, in the Bryan Cave Moot Courtroom of Anheuser-Busch Hall. Emergency preparedness drill will take place Tuesday, Oct. 12

Washington University will simulate an emergency situation on its campuses the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 12, to help ensure the university is prepared should an actual emergency occur. The No. 1 volleyball team (17-0) continues to roll and opened its University Athletic Association season with three victories in an Oct. 2 and 3 round-robin tournament in Atlanta.
