- Media literacy panel discussion. The School of Medicine will host a panel discussion, “Mental Health and Substance Abuse Messages: Truth or Consequences,” on how the media impact how we receive, process and evaluate messages about mental health and substance abuse. The discussion takes place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, in Cori Auditorium in the McDonnell Medical Sciences Building.

- Volleyball still perfect. The No. 1 volleyball team (17-0) continues to roll and opened its University Athletic Association season with three victories in an Oct. 2 and 3 round-robin tournament in Atlanta. The Bears had victories over Brandeis University, the University of Rochester and the University of Chicago.
